This course belongs to a three-part seminar, which explores the rapidly evolving landscape of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and some of its emerging implications for the future of work. We will delve into a selection of the challenges and opportunities presented by this disruptive technology, focusing on a theoretical, experimental, and human-centered approach. The seminar is structured around three core themes: Experimentation, Integration, and Adoption. We will examine research, best practices, and real-world case insights to understand how individuals and organizations can begin to more effectively navigate the changing nature of work in the Age of Intelligence. The course emphasizes a hands-on, applied approach, encouraging participants to connect course concepts to their own diverse professional contexts.

This topic is titled "Experimentation and Generative AI: Research and Trajectories", and will explore the complexities, challenges, and opportunities of navigating this reality. We will explore recent and relevant research and practice and begin to lay out an approach to thinking about strategies for engaging this incredible technology in our work.

We will examine the “jagged frontier” of generative AI and better understand the dynamics of both unpredictability and seemingly inevitable trajectories. We will provide a framework for thinking about the relationship of human capital and generative AI beyond merely seeking gains in productivity and efficiency as well as some stereotypes and presumptions about who and how AI leadership might emerge within organizations.

Implications for talent development, acquisition, and retention will be explored alongside a brief exploration of the kinds of skills and capacities necessary to advance both individuals and the organization within these emerging capabilities.
