Navigating Challenging Conversations at Work

This course equips participants with a structured approach for handling difficult workplace conversations while preserving relationships. The DEAR Framework provides four steps for preparing and conducting these conversations: Describe the situation objectively using facts, Express your feelings and impact, Ask for what you need or want, and Reinforce the relationship and positive outcomes. Participants learn that preparation and structure transform anxiety-inducing confrontations into productive dialogues. By the end of the session, participants will be able to apply a structured framework to prepare for and conduct a difficult workplace conversation that addresses the issue while maintaining the relationship.

You can earn a micro-credential through the completion of a course, workshop, internship, or other learning experience. People who have earned this badge have explored the roots of workplace conflict, examined the art of active listening and non-verbal communication, and practiced strategies to foster a positive and productive work environment.
